sneak preview

thought you'd like to see the artworks in the studio - they go to anca gallery tomorrow where they'll look fabulous. wish you could all be at the opening but we'll send photos of the event - and proper photos of the paintings.

this is my favourite

more on the cashews

well, in today's canberra times there's a double page spread all about the cashews and their guerilla gigs. apparently they not only do the 'spontaneous' public space gigs, they also perform free of charge at backyard gigs along with others such as cautious horses, hashemoto, the young professionals, one foot in the gravy and mitch joe the poet. and, piehands and lofty, you'll be able to squeeze them into your busy schedule next saturday as they're on in braddon. perhaps on the way between weddings?

now that we're cashew groupies we need to have their photo on the blog and, of course, our press clippings.

this photo is proof that your father is getting better and is now able to eat (if a little tentatively) something crunchier than vegetable soup and chocolate blancmange so we'll soon be able to celebrate his birthday properly. by the way, even with all the tooth traumas he still managed to get the paintings ready to hang tomorrow and they look fantastic. it would be nice if some sell but i won't mind if we get to keep them all as they're really great.

flash canberra

went for our afternoon walk around the lake the other day and came upon this flash band, cashew, which gets an audience by text messaging. i've read of other places where groups gather in furniture shops to test the lounges, eat bananas by the hundreds or riot on beaches, but what do they do in canberra? sit by the lake and play catchy music in the late afternoon sun. they were good too.

saturday afternoon in the garden

yesterday was another perfect summer's day here so decided to show you how the garden's growing. it's funny, i sit at the computer checking out places to rent in various foreign parts and then get up and walk through the house and garden thinking how nice it is here.

the fish are getting bigger and hungrier by the day. lots of tomatoes and ripening grapes and the rhubarb is rampant!

here are my first shots - all taken on the 8th, in canberra.

great ocean road

the landscape along this part of the trip was beautiful but was outclassed by the koala at one of the campsites which lolled in the branches of a tree until dusk when it came down for a stroll through the tents, causing some consternation amongst the campers who seemed to fear it was a killer k.
